Linda Galloway began her writing career as a news and features journalist in South Africa, where her wine education also started. Living on the doorstep of the Cape Winelands in the 1980s and 90s was the perfect introduction to an industry on the brink of exciting growth and development.
Pursuing her career, she moved to London and was appointed chief sub-editor of the Weekend section of The Times, where she worked with food and wine writers such as Jane MacQuitty, Frances Bissell and Jill Dupleix who inspired her to delve deeper into both subjects.
She left full-time journalism to train as a chef and with her WSET qualifications and extensive tasting experience she is uniquely placed to write on her specialist subject, food and wine pairings. “There is always a pairing in my mind, even at breakfast,” she says.
Linda is an associate judge with the IWC, and still works as a private chef. For her the joy is in sharing her knowledge of both food and wine in an accessible way. She writes for The Buyer, Glass of Bubbly and her own website, daffodilsoup.co.uk where you can also find lots of lovely recipes.
